Andean Textile Community – Manos de la Comunidad Cusco

About Us Manos de la Comunidad

Manos de la Comunidad – Artisan Alpaca Textiles

Community Hands Textiles is an initiative born in the heart of the Peruvian Andes, in the community of Huayllarcocha, that combines tradition, sustainability, and artisanal excellence. Officially founded on November 28, 2013, the company emerged with the purpose of preserving Andean textile art and strengthening the economy of local communities through the production of garments made from 100% baby alpaca, one of the finest and most valued natural fibers in the world.

Behind this project are Bruno Rodríguez A. and Alicia Guzmán Choque, university students at the time, along with members of their family who already had experience in marketing alpaca textiles and handicrafts. Thanks to this knowledge and their direct connection with the region’s artisans, they were able to build a product line based on authenticity, quality, and respect for Andean culture.

From its inception, the company has worked closely with communities in Cusco, strengthening ancestral weaving techniques and promoting the responsible use of alpaca fiber and other South American camelid fibers. This collaborative effort has improved production conditions, ensured fiber quality, and created development opportunities for dozens of families dedicated to this ancient tradition.

Andean Textile Tradition

In the Andes, weaving is not just an economic activity: it is a way to preserve cultural identity. Every thread, every pattern, and every color tells stories passed down from generation to generation.

At Textiles Manos de la Comunidad, artisans apply traditional techniques inherited for centuries, combining them with contemporary designs that bring the elegance of the Andes to the modern world.

Our products include:

  • Baby alpaca scarves and shawls
  • Hand-knit sweaters and garments
  • High-quality textile accessories
  • Handcrafted products inspired by Andean culture

Each piece is made with dedication, paying attention to every detail of the process, from fiber selection to the final finish.
